Jerry Raye Stacy, age 86, of Carthage, Texas, passed away on Saturday morning, October 17, 2026, in Carthage. He was born on December 4, 1939, in Blanchard, Oklahoma, to the late Willie Raye and Lahoma Ruth Garrison Stacy.

Jerry graduated from Galena Park High School in Houston, Texas, with the class of 1958. He attended both Baylor University and Panola College, where he played baseball. On August 12, 1960, he married Reba Carolyn Soape in Houston, beginning a loving marriage that spanned 66 years.

Jerry and Reba moved from Houston to Carthage in 1963, where they established their home and raised their family. A man of deep and abiding faith, Jerry was a longtime, devoted member of First Baptist Church in Carthage, where he faithfully served in numerous capacities, including Sunday School Superintendent, Treasurer, Assistant Treasurer, choir member, and Deacon. Music was an important part of his life and ministry. He served as music minister at Mt. Calvary Baptist Church, First Baptist Church in Beckville, and Bethel Baptist Church in Clayton. He also enjoyed sharing his love of gospel music as a member of the Churchman Quartet.

Jerry dedicated 33 years of service to the Texas Department of Transportation, retiring as Chief Inspector and Project Engineer. Following his retirement, he began a second career as a funeral assistant at Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home, where he served families with kindness, compassion, and dedication for 21 years before retiring again in 2017.

Throughout his life, Jerry generously gave his time and talents to his community. He served on the New Prospect Cemetery Board, coached and umpired youth baseball, served on the Board of Directors for BMA Theological Seminary in Jacksonville, and was a member of the Gideons International Carthage Camp. He enjoyed playing golf, faithfully cheering on his beloved Carthage Bulldogs, and, above all, spending time with his family. Jerry also proudly claimed an honorary degree from Texas A&M University, having 19 Aggies in the family with 16 more on the way!

Jerry leaves behind a legacy of faith, service, and love that will continue to live on through the many lives he touched.

He is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Reba Stacy; three sons, David Stacy and wife Laurie, Bryan Stacy and wife Cindy, and Chris Stacy and wife Jennifer; grandchildren, Kevin and Bekah Stacy, Adam and Taylor Stacy, Ashley and Eric Stroope, Courtney and Daniel Brewer, Will and Lauren Stacy, Ahna and Anthony Chhor, Coulter Stacy (Kylie Allums), and Caroline and Matthew Gorman; great-grandchildren, Hannah, Benjamin, and Caleb Stacy, Tate and Merritt Stacy, Kyle, Audrey, and Emma Stroope, Luke, Blake, and Kylie Brewer, Charlotte, Andrew, and Elaina Joy Stacy, and Lilyahna Chhor; and one great-granddaughter on the way.
