Jerry Watson Peterson, 79, of Beckville, passed away on Tuesday night, April 11, 2017, in Carthage. He was born on Dec. 18, 1937, in Ranger to the late Wayne A. and Nina Belle Rylee Peterson. He graduated from Carthage High School with the class of 1956. Jerry served his country in the U.S. Marine Corp and was honorably discharged. He married Judy Faye Shivers on Jan. 18, 1975, in Beckville. Jerry worked as a painter in the Carthage area all of his life. He enjoyed the outdoors including hunting, fishing, and golf. Jerry was a very talented artist and especially enjoyed drawing Looney Toon characters in his artwork.

Survivors include his wife, Judy of Beckville; sons, Craig Peterson and wife Annette and Cris Peterson and wife Jessica all of Longview; daughters, Sheri Peterson of Tyler, Jenifer Williams of Texarkana, and Misti Gregory and husband Chad of Beckville; brothers, Wallace Peterson and wife Karen of Carthage and Fred Peterson and wife Janis of Bullard; sister, Eva Pearl Vandevoort of Dallas; grandchildren, Krystal, Jeramie, Jerrid, Laney, Cristopher, Wendy, Jenna, Haley, Adam, Aiden, and Austin; and great-grandchildren, Jeryn, Emma, Laikyn, and Jace. Numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and a host of friends also survive Mr. Peterson.

A funeral service will be held at 4 p.m. on Tuesday, April 18, 2017, at Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home Chapel, 1131 SH 149, Carthage, TX with Phil Hodson officiating. The family will receive friends following the funeral service from 5-7 p.m. on Tuesday at the Carthage Country Club, 1135 U.S. Hwy. 79 North, Carthage, TX.
