Obituary
Funeral services for Mr. Jerry G. Northcutt, age 71, of Kilgore, TX, will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, July 26, 2010, at Cedar Grove Baptist Church with Bro. Freddy Mason and Rev. Darwood Galaway officiating under the direction of Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Bethlehem Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. on Sunday at the funeral home. Mr. Northcutt passed away on Friday morning, July 23, 2010, in Longview.
Jerry Glenn Northcutt was born on Dec. 12, 1938, in Gorman, TX to Lyman Northcutt and Elsie Myrl Salyer Northcutt. Mr. Northcutt graduated from Leverett's Chapel High School with the class of 1957, and attended Texas Christian University and Tyler Junior College, both on football scholarships. He married Joyce Byers on June 22, 1979, at Oakland Heights Baptist Church in Longview. Mr. Northcutt worked at Texas Eastman in operations and maintenance for 20 years, retiring on Apr. 4, 1980. He later worked at Lake Cherokee from 1993-2002, where he retired as the assistant lake manager. Mr. Northcutt had lived in the Gregg County area since 1962, and was a member of the Cedar Grove Baptist Church in Panola County. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Jerry is survived by his wife of 31 years, Joyce Byers Northcutt of Kilgore; three sons, Kerry Northcutt of Oklahoma City, Terry Northcutt and wife Michele of Durango, CO, and Jeffrey Osborne and wife Kim of Frisco; one daughter, Jennifer Helms and husband Mark of White Oak; one sister, Nelda June Mosley and husband Mickey of Liberty City; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Joan and G.T. Strong of Lake Cherokee; twelve grandchildren; four great-grandchildren and one on the way; three nieces and their families; and two nephews and their families.
Serving as pallbearers are Rick Lewis, Donnie Heimer, Dan Marshall, Josh Northcutt, Carter Northcutt, and Mack Monday.
