Jerrel Henry Fields, 75, of Carthage, passed away on Saturday, Dec. 1, 2018, at his home. He was born on Nov. 10, 1943, in Humble to the late Roy Delton and Susie Elizabeth Mills Fields. Jerrel attended Carthage schools. He married Linda Kay Mayhaw on Sept. 8, 1961, in Carthage. Jerrel worked as a welder and heavy equipment operator in the Pipeline Industry until his retirement. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and playing the guitar. Jerrel lived most of his life in Carthage and was a member of Abundant Life Church. He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Clint Fields; daughter, Tammy Fields Abshire; grandson, Matthew Dillon Abshire; and sister, Susie Mae Fields Dorman.

Mr. Fields is survived by his wife, Linda Fields; son, Scottie Fields; daughter, Sheila Hutto; brother, Clive Fields and wife Lucille; sisters, Erma Fae Adams and husband Elvy and Delores Phillips; grandchildren, Jeremy  Fields and wife Jessica, Brooke Handy and husband Chris, Joey Fields, Stevi Fitch and husband Brad, Jarrett Fields and wife Danielle, and Zachari Fincher; great-grandchildren, Blake, Tyler, Madison, McKenna, Cy, McKinley, Hudson, Eli, and Corbyn; and aunts, Dona Bozeman, Gay Belrose, and Margie Hinton. Numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and many friends also survive.

A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 5, 2018, at Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home Chapel with Sister Betty Wills officiating. Interment will follow in Restland Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home.

Pallbearers are Jeremy Fields, Joey Fields, Jarrett Fields, Chris Handy, Tyler Fitch, and Blake Fields. Honorary pallbearers are Brad Fitch and Zachari Fincher.
