Funeral services for Mrs. Jean Meredith Jordan, age 88, of Carthage, TX formerly of Richardson, TX, will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, Sept. 27, 2010, at the First United Methodist Church in Carthage with Rev. Leah Hanks and Rev. Keefe Cropper officiating under the direction of Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home. A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday at Restland Cemetery in Dallas with Rev. Harold Rucker officiating. The family will receive friends from 3-5 p.m. on Sunday at Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home in Carthage. Mrs. Jordan passed away on Saturday morning, Sept. 25, 2010, in Carthage.

Jean Meredith Jordan was born on May 10, 1922, in Dallas, TX to Elbert Nelson Meredith and Mattie Lee Coleman Meredith. Mrs. Jordan's great-great grandfather was John Sevier, Indian Fighter, Army General, frontiersman, the first Governor of Tennessee, and a Congressman. She married Ken A. Jordan on Aug. 9, 1952, and he preceded her in death on Feb. 26, 1988. Mrs. Jordan worked in the antique business from 1970-1990. After Ken's death, Jean continued to travel all over the U.S. and do antique shows, meeting many wonderful people along the way. She then married a good friend and Ken's brother, John B. Jordan on Aug. 29, 1990. John was one of the original flying tigers in WWII. Upon John's death on Oct. 30, 2001, Jean moved to Carthage with her sister who she cared for, and to be close to her nephew Ed Jordan and his family. Mrs. Jordan was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Carthage and was a former longtime member of the First United Methodist Church of Richardson. She was also preceded in death by her parents; son, Michael H. Caffarel who died on March 1, 2009; sister, Marguerite Ravell; and a great-nephew, Clay Westbrook.

Mrs. Jordan is survived by her step-son, John Kenneth Jordan and wife Sheri; daughter-in-law, Cindy Bowers Caffarel; nephew and niece, Edward (Hank) Jordan and Barbara Jordan of Carthage; grandchildren, Steven Caffarel and wife Kayla and Tracy Caffarel Bray and husband Shawn, Blain, Jeremy, Garman Lee, and Amanda; great-grandchildren, McClellan, Bennett, Kaylynn, Noah, Jaxon, and Natalee; great-nephew, Billy Jordan; great-nieces, Tracey Naylor and Katy Holt and husband Gary; great-great nieces and nephews, Reina, Alex, Jordan, Hannah, Clay, and Jordan.

Serving as pallbearers are Gary Claxton, Gary Holt, Bob Baker, Ray Chamness, and Rusty Shields.
