A funeral service for Mrs. Janet Holcomb, age 79, of Carthage, TX, will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 18, 2013, at Rehobeth United Methodist Church with Dr. Dale Reed officiating under the direction of Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Rehobeth Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home. Mrs. Holcomb passed away on Monday afternoon, Jan. 14, 2013, in Carthage.
Janet Rogers Holcomb was born on July 3, 1933, in Alto, TX to Frank and Nora Landrum Rogers. She graduated from Alto High School with the class of 1950. Mrs. Holcomb married Carroll Holcomb on Sept. 5, 1950, in Alto and he preceded her in death on Aug. 2, 2011. She worked in retail and child care for many years until her retirement. Mrs. Holcomb was a member of the Rehobeth U.M.C. where she was a member of the Mary Lizzie UMW Circle. She was also preceded in death by her parents; three sisters, Frankie Jones, Audie Mullins, and Venola Williams; and an infant son, Roger Wayne Holcomb who passed away in 1960.
Mrs. Holcomb is survived by three sons, Charles Holcomb and wife Debbie of Carthage, Jimmy Holcomb and wife Pam of Burnet, and Mitch Holcomb and wife Kim of Carthage; one sister, Ozell France of Houston; four grandchildren, Eric Holcomb and wife Niki and Holdon, Hampton, and Taylor Holcomb; and three great-grandchildren, Bre'Anna, Kaden, and Lexi Holcomb. Numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and many friends also survive Mrs. Holcomb.
Serving as pallbearers are Justin Barrow, Jack Williams, Shane Hartless, Mark Browning, Robert E. Smith, James Moon, and Gene Whitaker.
