Jan Morgan, 71, of Carthage, TX, passed away on Friday morning, Nov. 15, 2019, in Longview. Jan Alexander was born on March 25, 1948, in Houston, TX to the late Roger C. and Pauline Wilder Alexander. She graduated from Bellaire High School in Houston with the class of 1966, after which she attended the University of Texas at Austin. Jan earned a bachelor's degree in education from Lamar University in 1971. She taught school at Beaumont ISD and Hardin ISD before retiring after 30 years. She married Michael Vernon Morgan, Sr. on Aug. 3, 1968, in Houston. They moved to Carthage in 2007, from Hardin, TX and are members of First Baptist Church in Carthage. Jan was preceded in death by her parents and a great-grandson, Kristopher Kiptyn Sparks.

Survivors include her devoted and loving husband of 51 years, Mike Morgan, Sr. of Carthage; son Mike Morgan, Jr. and wife Jenni of Carthage; daughter, Jennifer Zett Couvier and husband Jason of Carthage; brother, Roger C. Alexander, Jr. and wife Della of Robert Lee, TX; grandchildren, Halie West Bush (Johnathan), Anthony Morgan (Memori), Jace Morgan Zett, Jordyn Morgan Taylor (Cameron), McKenna Zett, Austin  Morgan, and Jordan and Cayden Couvier; and great-grandchildren, Rhealyn Bush, Klutch and Sunni Morgan and Kylon Taylor. Numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and many friends also survive.  All of these she loved and touched deeply.

A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 22, 2019, at Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Scott Tidwell officiating. The family will receive friends for a visitation on Tuesday, Nov. 19, 2019, from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
