Funeral services for Mr. James Jack Wilkerson, age 91 of the Deadwood Community of Panola County, Texas will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, October 22, 2007 at Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home Chapel with his nephew Elder Ricky Womack officiating. A Masonic graveside service will follow in the Deadwood Cemetery under the auspices of Carthage Masonic Lodge #521. The family will receive friends from 5-8 p.m. on Sunday evening at the funeral home. Mr. Wilkerson passed away on Friday night, October 19, 2007 in Carthage, Texas.
James Jack Wilkerson was born on December 2, 1915 in Panola County, Texas to Robert Joe and Minnie Pearl Davis Wilkerson. He married Rachel Susana Davis on June 6, 1940 in the Galloway Community of Panola County. Mr. Wilkerson worked as a plant operator for Arkla Gas, retiring from the Waskom office in 1978. He loved woodworking and was an avid outdoorsman. Mr. Wilkerson was a member of the Carthage Masonic Lodge #521 A.F. & A.M. He had lived his lifetime in Panola County and was a member of Deadwood United Methodist Church. Mr. Wilkerson was preceded in death by his wife, Rachel Davis Wilkerson, on February 14, 2005; two sisters, Ludie Mae LaGrone and Nevada Ivey; and three brothers, Joe Lee Wilkerson, Tom Wilkerson, and Dorris Wilkerson.
Mr. Wilkerson is survived by two daughters, Nancy Scott of Carthage and Jackie Marie Cardenas and husband Vic of Oklahoma City; two sisters, Beckie Coats of the Deadwood Community and Norene Womack of Shreveport; special niece, nephew, and caregivers, Jean and Jimmy Davis of Carthage; four sisters-in-law, Geraldine Wilkerson of the Shiloh Community, Ruth Aaron of Carthage, Mary Frances Hankins of Carthage, and Ovell Davis of the Deadwood Community, brother-in-law, Albert Davis of Carthage; and six grandchildren, Charlotte Addington, Kimberly Scott Baker, Jamie Scott, and Carol, Terri, and James Davis. Numerous great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many friends also survive Mr. Wilkerson.
Serving as pallbearers are Jimmy Davis, Larry Joe Davis, Joe Davis, Bob Spradley, Buddy Ira LaGrone, and Leroy Cranford. Serving as honorary pallbearers are William Barnett, Charles Hughes, Burdett Hooper, Jim Bob Wallace, Jim Hooker, and Bill Hooker.
