Obituary

Funeral services for Mr. James Harrell Wilburn, age 71, of Marshall, TX formerly of Carthage, TX, will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, June 10, 2011, at Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Charles McFarland officiating. Interment will follow in Ramah Cemetery near Tenaha, TX. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. on Thursday, at the funeral home. Mr. Wilburn passed away on Tuesday evening, June 7, 2011, in Longview.

James Harrell Wilburn was born on Aug. 31, 1939, in the Logan Community of Panola County, TX to James Quitman and Ella Irene Broadway Wilburn. He graduated from Center High School with the class of 1958. Mr. Wilburn married Velma Joy Ann Myers on Aug. 15, 1961, in Center. He worked for Mrs. Baird's Bread Co. for many years until his retirement. Mr. Wilburn loved playing 42 and attended many singings at the Jones Hall in Gary. He was a former member of the First Assembly of God Church in Carthage. Mr. Wilburn moved to Marshall in 2009, from Carthage. He was preceded in death by his parents and one great-grandson, Arron Bell.

Mr. Wilburn is survived by his wife, Joy Wilburn of Marshall; two daughters, Deborah Casteel and husband Chris of Marshall and Patricia Keen and husband Alvin of Friendswood; one brother, Douglas Wilburn and wife Barbara of Rusk; three grandchildren, Jamie and Sydney Bell and Kristen Grooms; and three great-grandsons, Jimmy Bell and Lucas and Torrun Roberts.

Serving as pallbearers are Chris Casteel, Glen Wilburn, Glenn Jaques, Alvin Keen, Rodger Humphries, and Steven Moore.
