James Thomas "Jimmy" Teal, Jr., age 77, of Carthage, Texas, passed away on Wednesday night, August 27, 2025, in Tyler, Texas. He was born on October 5, 1947, in San Augustine County, Texas to the late James Thomas Teal, Sr. and Minnie Elizabeth Hightower Teal. He attended Carthage schools and served in the U.S. Army where he was stationed in Germany until he was honorably discharged. Jimmy worked in the Houston area as a tubing fitter and in instrument controls for Brown and Root and Fleur Daniels until his retirement. He enjoyed fishing, playing the guitar, and loved playing in and attending the Country Music Hayride in Carthage. Jimmy was also preceded in death by a daughter, Joni Lynn.
He is survived by daughters, Shay Dement and husband Steven and Crystal Teal; sisters, Christine Stewart and Tommie Hull and husband Larry; and grandchildren, Jamie, Nathan, Ethan, Lexi, Sarah, Alyssa, Kaylee, and Kash.
A graveside service will be held at 12 noon on Saturday, August 30, 2025, at Antioch Cemetery with Bro. Barney Bryant officiating under the direction of Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home.
