Obituary
A funeral service for Mr. Jamie Reed, 83, of Beckville, will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 31, 2014 at Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Aaron Bequette officiating. Interment will follow in New Prospect Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home. Mr. Reed passed away on Sunday evening, Oct. 26, 2014, in Carthage.
James Frank Reed was born on Oct. 8, 1931, in Beckville to the late Willie Edward and Ruth House Reed. He graduated from Beckville High School where he played on the football team. Jamie served his country in the U.S. Marines and was honorably discharged. He owned Double J Contractors, working in the road boring business until his retirement. He married Billie Ruth Badgett on Jan. 24, 1974, in Carthage. He enjoyed the Sabine River bottom, fishing, and spending time with his family, especially his children and grandchildren. Mr. Reed was preceded in death by one brother, Allen Reed and two sisters, Mary Sue Dumas and Ruth Smith.
Mr. Reed is survived by his wife, Billie Reed of Beckville; four children, Eddie Reed and wife Ginger of Beckville, Denise Rogers and husband Kenneth of Ore City, Jeffery Reed and wife Michelle of Tyler, and Holly Watts and husband Beau of Beckville; step-children, James Boggs and wife Linda of Beckville and Kathy Whitmire and husband Danny of Cleveland; five sisters, Nora Edwards of Florida, Barbara Jean Fromel and husband Jim of New York, Geneva Tatum of Carthage, Dorothy Marie Perry of Texarkana, and Linda Reed of Victoria; three brothers, Billy Wayne Reed and wife Nelda, Sam Reed, and Robert Reed and wife Janice all of Beckville; eleven grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren.
Serving as pallbearers are Brian Reed, Russell Perry, Bobby Joe Reed, Trace Reed, Taylor Reed, Trevor Reed, and Rick Gibson.
Serving as an honorary pallbearer is Richard Gibson.
