Graveside services for Mr. James Pierce, age 71 of Carthage, Texas will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, January 22, 2007 at Oddfellows Cemetery with Brother Freddy Mason officiating. Interment will follow the services under the direction of Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until Noon at the funeral home on Monday morning before the graveside service. Mr. Pierce passed away on Saturday, January 20, 2007 in Carthage.
James Alfred Pierce was born on February 10, 1935 in Panola County, Texas to Albert and Betty Bird Pierce. Mr. Pierce married Pearl Cameron on May 28, 1960 in Carthage. He worked in oilfield construction. Mr. Pierce was of the Baptist faith and had lived his lifetime in Panola County. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Walter Lee Pierce and one sister, Lesi Nix.
Mr. Pierce is survived by his wife of 46 years, Pearl Pierce of Carthage; one son John Pierce of Carthage; two sisters, Frances Rushing of Carthage and Betty Jo Collins of Carthage; one sister-in-law, Gaynell Barber of Joaquin; two brothers-in-law, Dennis Ray Cameron and Cleburne Cameron both of Joaquin; numerous nieces, nephews, relatives, and many friends also survive Mr. Pierce.
