James Matthew "Matt" Morris, Sr., age 56, of DeBerry, Texas, passed away on Tuesday, March 12, 2024, at his home. He was born on October 20, 1967, in Gilmer, Texas to James Henton and Fayrene Edwards Morris. Matt attended Marshall schools. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, working on small engines, tinkering, and barbequing. Matt worked for over 30 years at Tyson Foods as a refrigeration technician. He was preceded in death by his father.

Matt is survived by his children, James Matthew "Bubba" Morris, Jr. (Brittany), Melissa Nichols (Bryce), Christopher Morris (Tiffany), and Dalton Morris; grandson, Ashton Morris; brothers, Mark Morris (Misty) and Stephen Morris (Anna); and ex-wife/caregiver, Lisa Douget.

A visitation will be held from 4-6 p.m. on Tuesday, March 19, 2024, at Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home.
