Funeral services for Mr. James Kenneth McGuire, age 83, of Beckville, TX, will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, Aug. 9, 2010, at Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. W.C. "Butch" Jones and Bro. David Creek officiating. Interment will follow in Restland Memorial Park near Carthage. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. on Sunday at the funeral home. Mr. McGuire passed away on Friday morning, Aug. 6, 2010, in Longview.

James Kenneth McGuire was born on Oct. 23, 1926, in Desdemona, TX to Charles and Bertha Ann Blackburn McGuire. He married Pat Shivers on Nov. 9, 1948, and she preceded him in death on March 18, 1995. He had lived in the Beckville area since 1977, and was a member of the Church of Christ in Wildwood. Mr. McGuire was also preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Ruby Ann McGuire; one granddaughter, Sandi McGuire; six sisters; and three brothers.

Mr. McGuire is survived by three sons, J.D. "Snoot" McGuire and wife Monica of Beckville, Gary McGuire and wife Cindy of Carthage, and Randy McGuire and wife Susan of Beckville; two daughters, Diane Holland and husband Mack of the Fair Play Community and Marilyn Peurifoy and husband Larry of Rainbow; one brother, Edwin McGuire and wife Jean of Santa Fe; sister-in-law, Mildred McGuire of Wimberley; twenty grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; and a special friend, Wanda Nerger of Carthage.

Serving as pallbearers are Clay McGuire, Dwain McGuire, Clayton McGuire, Marshall McGuire, Cody McGuire, and Jason Travis.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to the doctors, staff, and nurses of Good Shepard Medical Center and Heart's Way Hospice for the wonderful care given to Mr. McGuire during his illness.
