A graveside service for James Edward Hightower, 67, of Beckville, will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, May 24, 2014, at Langley Cemetery with Dr. Dale Reed officiating under the direction of Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home. Mr. Hightower passed away on Thursday morning, May 22, 2014, in Longview.

James Edward Hightower was born on Oct. 19, 1946, in Carthage to the late Omer Edward and Fannie Belle Brevard Hightower. He attended Beckville schools and later worked in construction until his retirement. He loved hunting and fishing and was devoted to his family, especially his grandchildren. James lived his lifetime in Beckville and was a Presbyterian. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Jerry Hightower.

Mr. Hightower is survived by two daughters, Amy Hightower Johnson and husband Tracy of Augusta, KS and Wendy Hightower Bozeman and husband Bobby of Carthage; one brother, Rickey Hightower and wife Wanda of Beckville; two sisters, Lola Ann Raines and husband Leo and Sheila Briery and husband Roy all of Beckville; four grandchildren, Tommy and Kaylee Bozeman, Steffane Veryzer Nevarez and husband Jaime and Megan Veryzer; one great-grandchild, Rome Nevarez; and special friends, Sam and Denise Tompkins of Beckville.

Serving as pallbearers are Tommy Bozeman, Bobby Bozeman, Sam Tompkins, Cyrano Barryer, Michael Piedra, Justin Wright, Chris Baldobino, and Nathan Cleveland.
