James Dwayne Hicks, 43, of DeBerry, Texas, passed away on Wednesday, June 26, 2024, in Carthage, Texas due to injuries sustained in an automobile accident. He was born on August 3, 1980, in Carthage to Randy Wayne and Doneise Phoretta Lilly Hicks. James attended Carthage Schools and became a truck driver at an early age. He drove a truck for several different companies including Strong Services and more recently began working for Robert Howard at Car-Tex Transport. James married Stephanie Dianne Donald on February 17, 2001, in Carthage. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and more recently began playing golf with his son. James loved being with and spending time with his family. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Hubert and Fern Lilly and his father-in-law, Larry Donald.

He is survived by his wife, Stephanie Hicks; parents, Randy and Doneise Hicks; children, Emily Hicks, Kolton Hicks, Hunter Massey, Gabe Chavez, and Shara Martinez (Anthony); brothers, Kevin Hicks (Jeremy) and Royce Thomson (Kristin); uncle, Lanny Lilly; aunt, Joan Perkins; aunt, Angie McKinney and husband Richard; mother-in-law, Deborah Donald; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and many friends.

A visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. on Monday, July 1, 2024, at Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home.
