James Robert Dykes, Jr., 71, of Conroe, TX, passed away on Monday afternoon, Dec. 24, 2018, in Tyler. He was born on October 23, 1947, in Shreveport, LA to the late James Robert Dykes, Sr. and Edna Davis Dykes.  Mr. Dykes graduated from Byrd High School in Shreveport.  He later received a Bachelor's Degree in Forestry from LSU. He was a finance manager and salesman for Wiesner GMC in Houston and was a member of Mims Baptist Church in Conroe.  Mr. Dykes was very active in activities at the Senior Living Complex apartments in Conroe.  He was also preceded in death by two sisters.

He is survived by his sons, Dereck Dykes and wife Sarah of Michigan and Chaise Dykes and Ellie of Woodlands, TX; daughter, Gwen Dykes Brimhall and husband Ben of Carthage; sister, Jean King and husband J.J. of Shreveport; grandchildren, Landon and Kailey Braun, Benson, Micah and Lilly Brimhall and Jade and Westlyn Dykes.  He is also survived by numerous other family and friends.

A visitation will be held from 10 a.m.- 12 noon on Saturday, Dec. 29, 2018, at Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home
