Obituary

A Mass of Christian Burial for Mr. James Martin Davis, age 75 of Carthage will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, June 28, 2006 at Saint William of Vercelli Catholic Church in Carthage with Father Anthony Suresh officiating. Interment will follow in the Old Center Cemetery under the direction of Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home. Mr. Davis will lie in state after 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday morning with a rosary service at 7:00 pm. Tuesday evening in the chapel of Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home. Mr. Davis passed away on Saturday, June 24, 2006 in Shreveport, Louisiana.
James Martin Davis was born on February 5, 1931 in the Old Center Community to F.M. Davis, Sr. and Minnie Lee Kyle Davis. James attended Tenaha schools. He married Lucy Sheriff Davis on November 24, 1972 in Darwin, Australia. Mr. Davis worked in the oilfield for over 47 years with 30 of those years being overseas. Later, Mr. Davis owned and operated the Spicy Wok catering business in Carthage. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus where he had attained the level of 4th degree Knight and was the treasurer of the Legion of Mary. Mr. Davis had lived in Carthage since 1983 and was a member of the Saint William of Vercelli Catholic Church. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Michelle Elizabeth Davis who died in 1975.
Mr. Davis is survived by his wife of 34 ½ years, Lucy Davis of Carthage; three sons, James Dudley Davis and wife Donna of the Old Center Community, Bill Dan Davis and wife Janet of Carthage, Bobby Don Davis and wife Mary of Carthage; one daughter, Ann Davis Neely and husband Terry of Greenwood, Louisiana; seven stepchildren, Hansel Kryst of Paris, France, Grettle DeSouza and husband Jules of Singapore, Oval Kryst of Singapore, Aggie Burch and husband Bob of Singapore, Peggy Stillwell Thompson of Nacogdoches, Vincent Kryst of Singapore, and Francis Kryst and wife Sherri of Cypress, Texas; Four stepchildren from previous marriages, Kathy Lee Wallace, Johnny Clay Wallace, and Debra Lynn (Kamille) Marubashi; and Paul Douglos Wilson, numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren also survive.
Serving as pallbearers are the Knights of Columbus.
