A graveside service for Mr. Jackie Louis Robinett, age 61, of Long Branch, TX, will be held at 12:00 noon on Tuesday, Jan. 15, 2013, at Clayton Cemetery with Dr. Dale Reed officiating under the direction of Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. on Monday at the funeral home. Mr. Robinett passed away on Saturday afternoon, Jan. 12, 2013, at his home after a long battle with cancer.
Jackie Louis Robinett was born on July 22, 1951, in Carthage, TX to Clanton and Lillie Faye Skidmore Robinett. After graduating from Carthage High School and Panola College, Jackie enlisted in the Army National Guard for 6 years. Following his military service, he then focused on his career as a welder and welding inspector, traveling the United States working at numerous prominent sites, working for Fluor for many years. He lived his life in the Panola County area, where he met and married his wife of 39 years, Wanda Lou Weatherford on June 9, 1973. He was a longtime member of the American Welding Society and was also an active and lifetime member of the NRA. Jackie loved fishing, hunting and international traveling to places such as Germany, Switzerland, Italy, and Austria. Out of all of his travels, his favorite place to visit was Ireland. He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Barbara Craig and Shirley Jean Watson; and one brother, Larry Robinett.
Mr. Robinett is survived by his wife, Wanda Robinett; one son, Justin Lewis Robinett of Clayton; one sister, Gail Waits and husband Roy Lee Waits of Carthage; one sister-in-law, Judy Smith and husband Paul of Carthage; three aunts, Bernice Cooksey of Beeville, Doris Snell of Tyler, and Mary Crook of Arlington; Jackie also leaves behind numerous nephews, nieces, great-nephews, and nieces and many friends.
Serving as pallbearers are Beau Davis, Aaron Mills, Roy Waits, II, Alex Walston, Spencer Walston and Jarod Wedgeworth.
Serving as honorary pallbearers are Kenneth Mauritzen, Roy Waits, and Paul Smith
