J. Santos Hernandez, 64, of Carthage, Texas passed away Thursday evening, February 29, 2024 at his home in Carthage. He was born July 30, 1959 in San Luis, Mexico to the late Juan Hernandez and Paula Ledezma Hernandez. Santos came from Mexico in 1976 and worked for many years in the poultry industry, concrete industry and later owned and operated Pappy's Bargain Barn. He liked selling his antiques, going to the beach and spending time with family and friends. Santos was of the Catholic faith. He is also preceded in death by his sisters, Marie Pilar and Julia Hernandez.

Santos is survived by his spouse, Carol Brewer; sons, Richardo Hernandez (Adriana), Gerardo Hernandez (Marie Cristina); daughters, Lori Brown (Steve), Joann Riley, Tiffany Brewer (Robert); brothers, Prisciliano Hernandez, Arnulfo Hernandez, Francisco Hernandez; 10 grandchildren; and 15 great grandchildren. Numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends also survive Mr. Hernandez.

A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday, March 4, 2024 at the Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Harrison Baugh officiating. Interment will follow in the Walton Cemetery. A time of visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m. on Sunday evening at the funeral home.

Pallbearers are Jared Riley, Jim Neill, Joshua Turner, Raymond Owen, Ray Copeland, and Aaron Weaver. Honorary pallbearers are Curtis Ebarb and Bobby Malone.
