Funeral services for Mr. J. D. Baisden, age 71 of Carthage, Texas, will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, June 13, 2008 at Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Clyde Tucker officiating. Interment will follow in Miller Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home. Mr. Baisden passed away on Monday night, June 9, 2008 in Tyler, Texas.
James David Baisden, Jr. was born on August 14, 1936 in Lakeland, Florida to James David Baisden, Sr. and Mary Esther Hutto Baisden. Mr. Baisden married Evelyn Mae Schopp on November 20, 1960 in Scottsbluff, Nebraska. He worked most of his life in the oil field industry statewide and internationally and more recently, he worked as a courier for ETMC. He enjoyed fishing and tinkering. Mr. Baisden moved to the Carthage area in 1984 from Fort Benton, Montana. He was a member and deacon at Buncombe Freewill Baptist Church. Mr. Baisden was preceded in death by his parents, a sister; and a son, James David Baisden, III.
Mr. Baisden is survived by his wife, Evelyn Baisden of Carthage; two sons, David Schopp and wife Julie of Billings, Montana and Darin Baisden and wife Deborah of Pittsburgh, Texas; four daughters, Debra Hubert and husband Gary of Metairie, Louisiana, Angela Boyken of Cheyenne, Wyoming, Dauna Baisden of Carthage, and Desiree Caskey and husband Michael of Billings, Montana; one sister, Laura Sutton and husband Travis of Carthage; twenty-one grandchildren; and thirteen great-grandchildren.
Serving as pallbearers are Mark Baisden, Jimmy Baisden, Robert Lingafelter, Ryan McNeal, Jed King, and Christopher Woolfe.
