A funeral service for Mrs. Iva Mae Railey Butler, age 86, of Carthage, TX, will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 15, 2014, at Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Freddy Mason and Mrs. LeAnn Marshall officiating. A graveside service will follow at 4 p.m. on Wednesday at Welcome Home Cemetery in Grayson, LA with Bro. Rick Crandle officiating. The family will receive friends for a visitation from 6-8 p.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home. Mrs. Butler passed away on Sunday morning, Jan. 12, 2014, in Longview, TX.
Iva Mae Railey Butler was born on Apr. 24, 1927, in Caldwell Parish, LA to Clarence Letrell and Minnie Alena Rogers Railey. She graduated Ward Five High School in Columbia, LA with the class of 1944. Mrs. Butler attended business school in Winnfield, LA. She married Marcus Bernard Butler on Feb. 28, 1946, in Caldwell Parish and he preceded her in death in 1988. She made a career in banking having worked at Caldwell Bank in Columbia and at Commercial National Bank in Shreveport from which she retired. She moved to Carthage in 1988, from Shreveport. Mrs. Butler was a member of Cedar Grove Baptist Church near Carthage. In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Butler was also preceded in death by two sons, Larry Steven Butler in 2005 and Marcus Bernard "Marty" Butler, III in 2010.
Mrs. Butler is survived by two daughters, Judith L. Smith and husband Michael and Cheri Butler Jamison all of Carthage; daughter-in-law, Robin Butler of Kennesaw, GA; one sister, Clarice Railey Hatten of Grayson; five grandchildren, Rebecca Smith Childs, Shane Jamison and wife Jessica, Courtney Jamison Dyer and husband Travis, Emily Butler, and Ethan Butler; four great-grandchildren, Hannah and John Michael Childs, Cooper Levi Dyer, and Everly Yvonne Jamison; a host of nieces and nephews; and special friends, Delores and Clay Pinnick.
Serving as pallbearers are Shane Jamison, Travis Dyer, Randy Hatten, Ronny Hatten, Ricky Hatten, and Clayton McGuire.
Serving as honorary pallbearers are Michael Smith, Clay Pinnick, and Keith Nutt.
