Ida B. Pilott, 98, of Carthage, TX, passed away on Thursday afternoon, June 23, 2016 in Carthage. She was born on March 22, 1918, in Tenaha, TX to the late Oscar and Mary Briggs Johnson. Ms. Pilott attained a ninth grade education, learned the skill of nursing, and was a retired registered nurse from Memorial Hospital in Topeka, Kansas. Ms. Pilott spent the better part of her life using her nursing skills to serve others. She lived a full life filled with love and the joy of being a daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, aunt and friend. Ms. Pilot was preceded in death by her father, Oscar Johnson; her mother, Mary Johnson; sister, Lillie B. Greenway-Johnson; brothers, King James Johnson, Howard Johnson, and Rubin Johnson; her life partner, Jimmie Mason; son, Ira "Harry" Moore (Sonny Boy); daughter, Willie B. Robinson-Clark; nieces, Maggie Pendergrass, Bobbie Jewell, and Ruby Holmes; and her nephew, James Johnson.
She leaves behind to cherish her memory, her grandchildren; Velerie Duette-Fuller, Robyn Marell, Sharon Marell and Teddy; her great grandchildren, LaKetia Marell-Jones, Eric Clemons Jr.(Sheena), Christopher Clemons, and Mariauna Hernandez; nieces and nephews, Cora Mae Shaw, Carolyn Johnson, Lily B. Johnson, Pamela Johnson, Jesse Johnson, Roosevelt "Billy" Johnson, Jimmy Johnson, Bettie Johnson, Otis Johnson, Brenda Holmes, Sarah Brown, LaTonia Norris-Gray, Tina Simmons, Alisia Shotwell, Darcus Johnson, Teresa Norris, and Mark Boss; also, a host of great-great grandchildren, great nieces, and nephews, cousins and family members.
Ms. Pilot will lie in state at Jimerson-Lipsey funeral home on Wednesday, June 29, 2016 from 10 a.m. – 11:30 a.m. The funeral service will be held at 11:30 a.m. at Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jesse Johnson of Galveston officiating under the direction of Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Pleasant Hill Cemetery in the Woods Community of Panola County
