Funeral services for Mr. Hubert Lilly, age 76 of Carthage, Texas will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, November 17, 2006 at Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Arnold Shrewsbury officiating. Interment will follow in Restland Memorial Park near Carthage. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. on Thursday evening at the funeral home. Mr. Lilly passed away on Tuesday evening, November 14, 2006 in Carthage, Texas.

Mr. Hubert Lilly was born on July 3, 1930 in Stockman, Texas to James C. and Donnis Hogan Lilly. Mr. Lilly married Fern Dickerson on September 8, 1951 in Houston, Texas. He worked as a truck driver for Groendyke Transport until his retirement. Mr. Lilly loved fishing and hunting. He was devoted to his family and loved his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren dearly. Mr. Lilly had lived in Carthage for 30 years moving from Angleton, Texas. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife of 53 years, Fern Lilly who passed away on September 22, 2004; two sisters, and two brothers.

Mr. Lilly is survived by one son, Lanny Lilly of Houston, Texas; two daughters, Doneise Hicks and husband Randy of Carthage, Texas and Janet Windham of Carthage, Texas; son-in-law, Melvis Windham of Carthage; one brother, Wilburn Lilly and wife Sally of Houston; four grandchildren, Bridget Morrow and husband Rick, Kevin Hicks and wife Jeremy, James Hicks and wife Stephanie, and Wayne Lilly; six great-grandchildren, Christopher Williamson, Clinton Williamson, Keith Williamson, Cody Hicks, Kylee Hicks, Emily Hicks, and one on the way; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many friends also survive Mr. Lilly.

Serving as pallbearers are Kevin Hicks, James Hicks, Wayne Lilly, Christopher Williamson, Clinton Williamson, and Rick Morrow. Serving as an honorary pallbearer is Melvis Windham.
