Henry Alonzo Galloway, III, age 79, of the Long Branch Community in Panola County, Texas, passed away peacefully at his home on Sunday morning, May 10, 2026. He was born on November 1, 1946, in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, to the late Henry Alonzo Galloway II and Joseph “Jo” Liese Hurst Galloway.

Henry graduated from high school in Tucker, Georgia, and later earned his bachelor’s degree from West Texas A&M University in Canyon, Texas. A proud patriot, he faithfully served his country in the United States Air Force from 1966-1969 and received an honorable discharge. He later continued his military service in the United States Marine Corps Reserve, where he attained the rank of Lieutenant Colonel before his retirment.

On October 6, 1978, Henry married the love of his life, Dana Jo Harris, in Shreveport, Louisiana. Throughout his career, he worked as an insurance auditor, a profession that allowed him to travel extensively across the country before retiring.

Henry enjoyed the simple pleasures of life, especially fishing and settling down with a good western novel, particularly those written by Louis L’Amour. In 2005, he made East Texas his home after relocating from Broken Arrow, Oklahoma.

In addition to his parents, Henry was preceded in death by his siblings, Mary Kathryn Galloway, Joseph Michael Galloway, and Martin Galloway.

He leaves behind his loving and devoted wife of more than 47 years, Dana Galloway; his children, Jeff, Jennifer, William, and Kari Jo; his step-son, Shawn; numerous grandchildren; as well as many other family members and friends who will cherish his memory.

Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home.
