A funeral service for Mr. Henry Lee "Bear" Barkins, 59, of Carthage, will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, May 16, 2014, at Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jimmy Nelson officiating. Interment will follow in Mt. Zion Cemetery near Logansport, LA. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home. Mr. Barkins passed away on Sunday night, May 11, 2014, in Tyler.
Henry Lee Barkins was born on March 22, 1955, in Carthage to the late Cleveland and Mae Be Burroughs Barkins. He worked as a mechanic until his retirement. Henry was of the Baptist faith and had lived his lifetime in Carthage. Henry was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, John Terry Barkins and Cleveland Barkins, Jr..
Mr. Barkins is survived by two sons, Cecil Moore, Jr. and wife Stacy of Bella Vista, AR and Christopher Moore and wife Nita of Hallsville; one daughter, Cicely M. Moore and Dewayne of Carthage; the mother of his children, Janet of Tyler; three brothers, Robert Lee Barkins of Carthage, Claude Earl Barkins of Carthage, and Johnny Lee Barkins of Atlanta, GA; two sisters, Pearlie Be Johnson and husband Billy of Marshall and Gloria Mae Smith and husband Robert of Marshall; and four grandchildren, Cierra, Jada, Alesiah, and Alexxa.
