A memorial gathering for Mrs. Helen I. McCormick Gay, 79, of Deadwood, TX, will be held at 12 noon on Saturday, Nov. 9, 2013, at Mrs. Gay's Home, 131 PR 848, Carthage, TX in Deadwood. Mrs. Gay passed away on Saturday night, Nov. 2, 2013, at her home in Deadwood. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home.

Helen I. McCormick Gay was born on Aug. 4, 1934, in Big Mamou, LA to Leonard Hayward and Laura Thompson McCormick. She loved the Dallas Cowboys and canning. Mrs. McCormick worked for many years as a desk clerk, retiring from Cross County Inn. She moved to Deadwood in 2009, from Shreveport and was of the Catholic faith. Mrs. McCormick was preceded in death by one son, Billy Joe Love; one grandson, Tony Joe Peters; and numerous siblings.

Mrs. Gay is survived by one daughter, Pam Wellborn and husband James of Deadwood; one son, Tony Love of Seabrook, TX; one sister, Gloria Maranto of Shreveport; three grandchildren, Charles Michael Peters, Brian M. Love, and Jason Mark Peters; and three great-grandchildren, Austin, Emily, and Clayton Peters. Numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and many friends also survive Mrs. Gay.
