Helen Ruth Johnson, 88, of Carthage, passed away on Monday morning, April 9, 2018, in Carthage. Helen Ruth Boose Johnson was born on October 29, 1929, in Timpson. She worked as a sitter in the home health business. Mrs. Johnson was married to T. P. Johnson and he preceded her in death on January 23, 1970. She lived most of her life in Carthage and was a member of Bethlehem Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; sister, Mary Alice Yarborough; and grandson, Don Johnson.

Survivors include her son, Kevie Lenn Johnson of Carthage; step-daughter, Ollie Mae Johnson of Carthage; sister, Penny Driver of Dallas; grandchildren, Robert Wilson and Stephanie Wilson; great-grandchildren, Latasha Smith and husband James and Timeka Horn; and 9 great-great-grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, April 14, 2018, at Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. J.T. Harris officiating. Interment will follow in Shady Grove Cemetery near Gary. Mrs. Johnson will lie in state from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home.

Pallbearers are Jesse Matlock, Cecil Matlock, Melvin Goolsby, and Lloyd Thompson.

Honorary pallbearers are Kevie Lenn Johnson, Tae Lewis, Robert Wilson, Shawn Robertson, Jaborie Marry, A'Johntae Marry, Charles McClendon, and James Smith.
