Funeral services for Mrs. Helen Claire Goolsby, age 87 of Carthage, Texas will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, April 6, 2006 at the Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home Chapel with Brother James Speer and Brother Pete Williams officiating. Interment will follow in Oddfellows Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m. Wednesday evening at the funeral home. Mrs. Goolsby passed away on Monday, April 3, 2006 in Mt. Enterprise, Texas.
Helen Claire Kyle Goolsby was born on February 21, 1919 in Panola County to James R. and Annie Keeling Kyle. Mrs. Goolsby was a graduate of Carthage High School. She married William Maurice (Bull) Goolsby on August 24, 1941 in Henderson, Texas. She was a member of the Carthage Service League where she worked tirelessly at the Thrift Shop. Mrs. Goolsby was a member of the Beta Rho Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi. She was member of the First Baptist Church of Carthage. Mrs. Goolsby was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, William Maurice (Bull) Goolsby on September 29, 1995.
Mrs. Goolsby is survived by her son, William Goolsby of Carthage; brother, Robert L. Kyle and wife Nell of Shreveport; two sisters, Maurine Hendrix of Houston, Jean Sorelle and husband Carroll of Greeley, Colorado; sister-in-law, Jewel Kyle of Carthage; brother-in-law, John Goolsby and wife Joy of Carthage; two grandchildren, Catherine Marshall and husband Eddie of Bossier City and Justin Goolsby of Carthage; one great-grandchild, Taylor Graham Marshall of Bossier City; numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives also survive.
Serving as pallbearers are Scott Goolsby, Bob Kyle, David Kyle, Frenchie Kyle, Phil Grimes, and Ray Tiller.
