Funeral services for Mrs. Hazle Boulware Wakefield, age 88 of Dallas, Texas formerly of Beckville, Texas, will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 23, 2008 at Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. William Everett officiating. Interment will follow in Langley Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home. Mrs. Wakefield passed away on Tuesday morning, August 19, 2008 in Dallas.

Hazle was born on August 9, 1920 in Beckville, Texas to Andrew Hazelwood and Hennie Dee Marshall Boulware. Mrs. Wakefield earned a Bachelor of Education Degree from Sam Houston State University and a Master's Degree in English from the University of Houston. She taught in the Houston Independent School District, retiring in 1980 from her last teaching assignment at Jane Long Jr. High. Mrs. Wakefield was a member of Central Baptist Church of Carthage and Delta Kappa Gamma, an honor society of women educators. She lived in Dallas since 2002.

Mrs. Wakefield is survived by one sister, Sarah Corbin; and three nephews, Lee, Richard, and David Corbin all of Dallas. Other family members include cousins, Joe T. Bobbitt of O'Fallon, Illinois, Martha Goodin of Dothan, Alabama, Mary Fowler of Cleveland, Tennessee, and Keith Grimes of Montgomery, Alabama; and the Sterrett Family of Carthage, Longview, and Jefferson.

Serving as pallbearers are Bobby Sterrett, James Sterrett, Robert Sterrett, Dowell Sterrett, Lee Corbin, and David Corbin.
