A funeral service for Mrs. Hazel Marie Pike, age 82, of Carthage, TX, will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, June 12, 2015, at Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. William Everett officiating. Interment will follow in Restland Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home. Mrs. Pike passed away on Tuesday morning, June 9, 2015, in Longview.
Hazel Marie Ebarb Pike was born on Sept. 23, 1932, in Freestone County, TX, to the late Levi Hilton and Bernice Beatrice Walker Ebarb. She lived in the Carthage most of her life. Mrs. Pike worked as a court reporter for many years at the Gregg County Courthouse. She was a member of the National Shorthand Reporters Assn. and the Texas Shorthand Reporters Assn. She was also a member of the Carthage Order of the Eastern Star Chapter #747. Mrs. Pike was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Robert Yates Pike; two brothers, Wallace H. Ebarb and John Ben Ebarb; sister, Margie Louise Finklea; and a grandchild, George L. Alexander, Jr.
Mrs. Pike is survived by her step-daughter, Linda Pike Alexander of Devine, Texas; sister, Dorothy Ruth Avery of Carthage; sister-in-law, Doris Holmes Ebarb of Carthage; and granddaughter, Dr. Erin Lee Alexander-Blackman, Uvalde, Texas. Many nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends also survive Mrs. Pike.
