Obituary

A graveside service for Harry Decker, 99, of Carthage, TX formerly of Atlanta, TX, will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, July 8, 2014, at Pinecrest Cemetery in Atlanta with The Rev. Michael Woods officiating under the direction of Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. on Monday at Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home. Mr. Decker passed away on Friday morning, July 4, 2014, in Carthage.

Harry Isaac Decker was born on Oct. 25, 1914, in Dallas to the late Dr. J.W. and Belzora Alexander Decker. Mr. Decker graduated from Atlanta High School with the class of 1933. He served his country in the U.S. Army during WWII and was honorably discharged. He worked for Safeway Grocery stores as a produce manager for 37 years until his retirement. Mr. Decker had lived in Beckville for the past 20 years, moving from Atlanta. He was of the Episcopal faith. Mr. Decker was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Ada B. Decker; his second wife, Pauline Decker; and two brothers, Wilson and Johnny Decker.

Mr. Decker is survived by one daughter, Pat Tompkins and husband Donnie of Beckville; step-son, Casey Manuel and fiancé Lori of Tyler; and four nieces.

Serving as honorary pallbearers are Dean Giles, Gene Giles, Buddy Gossett, Marvin Hagemeier, Scott Tyson, Steven Caver, Jimmy Pappas, and Ray Ryan.
