Harold L. Wilkerson, 93, of Shreveport, LA formerly of Carthage, TX, passed away on Wednesday night, April 28, 2021, in Bossier City, LA. He was born on April 10, 1928, in Carthage to the late William Thomas and Elvira Thomas Wilkerson. Mr. Wilkerson served in the U.S. Army and the U.S. Air Force and was honorably discharged from both. He married Laverne McAdams on May 6, 1951, in Shreveport, LA and she preceded him in death on Oct. 30, 1997. Mr. Wilkerson worked in the grocery business as a butcher for Brookshire's until his retirement. He married Margaret Olive Followell on April 10, 1998, in Blanchard, LA. Harold enjoyed gardening. Mr. Wilkerson was a member of Central Baptist Church in Carthage. He was also preceded in death by brothers, Wallace, Royce, and Wilton Wilkerson and sisters, Opal Ruth Allwhite, Wilma Cope, Grace Nester, and Kathleen Wilkerson.

He is survived by his wife, Margaret Wilkerson of Shreveport; children, Phillip Wilkerson and wife Kimberly of Blanchard, Linda Colbert and husband Jeff of Shreveport, and Carly Merriott and husband John "Frosty" of Carbondale, CO; step-children, Jerry Bertrand and wife Cheryl of Blanchard, John Bertrand and wife Julie of Carthage, Daryl Bertrand of Blanchard, Debra Richardson and husband Steve of Blanchard, Dani Edwards and husband Mike of Bismarck, AR and Amelia Ross and husband Randy of Anacoco, LA; brother, Eldon Wilkerson of Carthage; 16 grandchildren; and 36 great-grandchildren. Numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and many friends also survive.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, May 3, 2021, at Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Monty Pierce and Paul Gwinn officiating. Interment will follow at 2 p.m. on Monday at Centuries Memorial Park in Shreveport. The family will receive friends from 10-11 a.m. on Monday at the funeral home prior to the funeral service.

Pallbearers are Andy Marshall, Wyatt McCollum, Marshall McCollum, K.C. Greer, Carter Montgomery, and George Beck. Honorary pallbearers are Kenneth Cope, Carl Cope, Vernon Wilkerson, Royce Wilkerson, and John Bertrand.
