Hannon Arnold Franks, Sr., age 87, of Carthage, Texas, passed away on Wednesday morning, February 1, 2023, at his residence in Carthage, after a lengthy illness. He was born on March 30, 1935, in Effie, Louisiana to Manuel James and Rhoda Ella Nation Franks. Arnold was one of seven children in his family. He married his first wife, the former Eloise Marie Brevelle, in 1953. They shared 32 years of marriage and were blessed with three sons, Hannon Arnold Franks, Jr., Sherril Joseph Franks, and Larry Paul Franks before she passed away on April 18, 1985. Arnold married his second wife, the former Bernice Dean Moras in 1991, along with her four children, twins, Terry and Jerry Lachney, Cindy Smith, and Lynn Tyler and they have shared 32 years of together. Arnold spent the majority of his adult life in Carthage where he worked hard as a truck driver for Drew Woods, Inc. and later with Tyson Foods from which he retired.

Arnold was preceded in death by his parents, Manuel and Rhoda; brothers, Monroe, Ben, Andy, and Walter; sister, Irene; first wife, Eloise; sons, Arnold and Sherril; and grandchildren, Hannon and Amy.

Arnold is survived by his wife, Bernice Dean Franks of Carthage, Texas; son, Larry Franks and wife Molly of Carthage, Texas; brother, Willis Franks of Deville, Louisiana; and numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nephews, nieces, and cousins.

Funeral services for Mr. Franks were held at 12:00 p.m. on Monday, February 6, 2023, at Center Point Pentecostal Church in Deville, Louisiana. Interment followed in Richey Cemetery in Deville, Louisiana. The family received visitors Sunday, February 5, 2023, starting at 2:00 p.m. at the church.

Pallbearers were be Larry Franks, Terry Franks, Jerry Lachney, Corey Smith, Joshua Franks, and Eric Gunn. Honorary pallbearer was Alex Gough.

Funeral arrangments were under the direction of Hixson Brothers Funeral Home in Marksville, Louisiana. Local arrangments are by Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home.
