Obituary

Grady Wills, 91, of Carthage, Texas, passed away on Friday morning, April 26, 2024, at his home in Carthage surrounded by his loving family. He was born on November 7, 1932, in the Fair Play Community in Panola County, Texas to the late Sam Houston and Myrtie Mae Birdwell Wills. He attended Fair Play schools. Grady served his country in the United States Army and was honorably discharged. He married Betty Jean Mayhaw on May 20, 1983, in Carthage. Grady worked in many areas including sheet metal, commercial plumbing, and oil field construction to name a few. He was proud to have built and been on many large construction projects including the construction of Carthage High School and Darrell K. Royal football stadium at the University of Texas in Austin just to name a few. Grady was obsessed with gardening and especially loved his peach trees. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing and basically anything outdoors. Grady loved his family dearly and will be missed by all who knew him. He called Panola County his home his entire life and was a member of Abundant Life Church in Carthage. He was also preceded in death by siblings, Willis Wills, Wilbert Wills, and Peggy Phillips and a grandson, Bryan Keith Warf.

He is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Betty Wills; children, Ricky Wills, Sandra Warf and husband Keith, Donnie Wills and wife Pam, and Christy Lovelady and husband Dewayne; grandchildren, Niki, Mandi, Ricky Joe, Corey, Caitlin, Taylor, Paige, and Shane; and siblings, Jack Wills and wife Sachiko and Dorothy Hammons. Numerous great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, church family, and friends also survive.

A funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. on Tuesday, April 30, 2024, at Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Ray Wilson officiating. Interment will follow in Restland Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. on Monday at the funeral home.

Pallbearers are Shane Lovelady, Ricky Joe Wills, Corey Warf, Kaden Holcomb, Shane Shadowens, and Ryan Davidson.

Honorary pallbearers are Kolby Wilson, Maddox Powell, Harold Allred, Levi Hughes, and Grant Hughes.
