Funeral services for Ms. Grady Kathleen Wilkerson, age 92 of Carthage, TX, will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday, July 26, 2010, at Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Bob Scott and Bro. Jeff Colbert officiating. Interment will follow in Restland Memorial Park near Carthage. The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. on Sunday at the funeral home. Ms. Wilkerson passed away on Friday night, July 23, 2010, in Carthage.

Grady Kathleen Wilkerson was born on Nov. 29, 1917, in Gary, TX to William Thomas Wilkerson and Ellie Thomas Wilkerson. She retired from the U.S. Navy where she served as a medical technician during WWII and was honorably discharged. Mrs. Wilkerson was a former member of the American Legion in Shreveport. She moved back to Carthage ten years ago from Shreveport. She was a member of Friendship Baptist Church in the Riderville Community. Ms. Wilkerson was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Vernon Wallace Wilkerson, Royce Wilkerson, and Wilton Wilkerson; and three sisters, Wilma Wilkerson Cope, Grace Nester, and Opal Ruth Wilkerson Allwhite.

Ms. Wilkerson is survived by two brothers, Harold L. Wilkerson and wife Margaret of Carthage and Eldon T. Wilkerson and wife Rosemary of Carthage; brother-in-law, Otis Nester of Vivian, Louisiana; and sister-in-law, Helen Wilkerson of Shreveport. A host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and many friends also survive Ms. Wilkerson.

Serving as pallbearers are James Kenneth Cope, Jeff Colbert, Crisp Wilkerson, Christopher Cope, Dusty Cope, Karl Cope, and John Bertrand.

Serving as honorary pallbearers are John Albers, Jerry Anderson, Bobby Lamon, Glen Reeves, Albert Tompkins, Warren Jones, and Phillip Wilkerson.
