Gloria was born to the late Richard and Ruby McDowell on Aug. 11, 1931. She traveled with her parents and siblings until they settled in Beckville when she was in grade school. Mrs. Bowman attended Beckville High School, graduating with the class of 1950. She met Norman E Bowman in July of 1951 and they were married on Aug. 18, 1951, in Dallas. Together, they traveled the world via the USAF. They retired and eventually ended up in Beckville until Norm preceded her in death on Jan. 24, 2011. She finished her life out in Colorado. Gloria loved to crochet, quilt, collect chickens and cats (real and fake), feed the birds, and garden in her yard. She enjoyed Western type shows and her afternoon Martini's, stray cats and loved Elvis. She spoke highly of her children and was proud of their success. She was always proud of her soccer playing granddaughter, Tali, and had such thrill of seeing pictures of Jack and his basketball. She also enjoyed her great-grandchildren coming over to visit. Gloria loved to watch the helicopters Grandpa David, Nevaeh and Ayden flew together and the jewelry that Kyrra would decorate her in. Mrs. Bowman was also preceded in death by her four brothers, Billy, A.G., Johnny, and Lawrence McDowell.

She is survived by her children, Terry Bell and husband David of Henderson, CO and Norm Bowman and wife Brenda of Forney, TX; her grandchildren, Adam France and wife Ami, Lucas France and wife Laura, and Natalia and Jackson Bowman; great-grandchildren, Nevaeh, Ayden and Kyrra France; her sister, Carol Sue Waggoner of Longview, nieces, Tracy, Paula, Tammy, and Cindy, nephew, Clay and their families; her in-laws, Jayne Bowman, Barbra Portch, with nieces and nephews, Jeff, Steven, Dawn, Elisa and Kevin with their families; and her devoted caretaker until the end, Chastity Macias.
