Gloria Jean Duke Davidson, 80, of Carthage, Texas passed away on Friday morning, January 20, 2017, in Carthage. She was born on September 30, 1936, in Carthage to the late Obie Austin and Grace Elspeth Godwin Duke. Mrs. Davidson graduated from Carthage High School with the class of 1955. She married Mitchell J. "Shorty" Davidson on July 11, 1958, in Carthage, and he preceded her in death on Nov. 16, 2003. Mrs. Davidson began her career with the Panola County Tax Assessor Collector where she worked for 10 years. In 1975, she began working for CISD in the food services department and from 1984 until her retirement in the late 90's, Gloria Jean was the manager of the Carthage High School Cafeteria. She was a lifelong resident of Carthage and where she was a member of the First Christian Church. Mrs. Davidson was also preceded in death by her sister, Doris Welch.

Survivors include her children, Michael Austin Davidson and wife Georgeana of Gary and Cindi Faircloth of Carthage; grandchildren, Amber Harris and husband Jimmy, David Daniel and wife Maegan, Robert Davidson and wife Christin, Brandon Faircloth and wife Alicia, Jerrod Davidson and wife Harley, and Cody Davidson and wife Allesha; 13 great-grandchildren and one on the way.

A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday, January 23, 2017, at the First Christian Church in Carthage with Rev. Don Cocklin officiating under the direction of Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Restland Memorial Park near Carthage. The family will receive friends from 2-4 p.m. on Sunday at the funeral home.

Pallbearers are David Daniel, Robert Davidson, Jerrod Davidson, Cody Davidson, Brandon Faircloth, James Williams, Jimmy Harris, Michael Born, and James Riley.

Honorary pallbearers are Ryder Davidson, Alan Downing, Austin Downing, Landon Davidson, and Bryce Faircloth.
