Obituary

A memorial service with military honors for Mr. Glenn N. Riley, age 73 of the Lake Murvaul Community will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, April 20, 2007 at Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Bruce Will officiating. Mr. Riley passed away on Friday evening, April 13, 2007 at his home on Lake Murvaul.

Glenn Norris Riley was born on October 24, 1933 in Huntington, Texas to Walter Braxton and Jettie Reynolds Riley. Mr. Riley married Charlene Hobson on August 26, 1952 and she preceded him in death on April 13, 2000. Mr. Riley served his country in the United States Navy where he retired after 30 years of service. During his service, he worked as a Chief Warrant Officer, Navy Seal, and was a Submariner. Also during his service, Mr. Riley was a Prisoner of War. After the service, Mr. Riley worked for Pfizer from 1973-1993 as a maintenance engineer. He was a lifetime member of the American Legion and the V.F.W. On April 15, 2006, he married Carol Lane in Panola County, Texas. He enjoyed working and training horses, antique cars, working with honey bees, woodworking, fishing, square dancing, and traveling in his R.V. Mr. Riley was also preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Claude Riley who passed away in 1931.

Mr. Riley is survived by his wife, Carol Riley of Gary; one brother, Walter Riley and wife Anne of Gary; and one niece Joyce Tyler of Tyler.
