A funeral service for Mrs. Gladys Pauline "Polly" McElroy, age 99, of Carthage, TX, will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, July 19, 2014, at Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Jerry Anderson officiating. Interment will follow in Restland Memorial Park near Carthage. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. on Friday July 18, 2014 at the funeral home. Mrs. McElroy passed away on Wednesday morning, July 16, 2014, at Panola Care and Rehab. in Carthage.

Gladys Pauline "Polly" McElroy was born on Sept. 2, 1914, in Joaquin, TX, to the late Harvey Allen and Bessie S. Veach Parker. She married Sam McElroy on June 19, 1933. She was a member of Friendship Baptist Church. She was a lifelong homemaker where she was devoted to taking care of her family. She enjoyed pipeline traveling, fishing, sewing, cooking, and enjoyed spending time with her family. She was preceded in death by her husband Sam Coy McElroy, on July 8, 2005 and one son Adria Lee McElroy.

Those left to cherish her memory are two sons, Charles W. McElroy and wife Trudy of Carthage, and Sam Conrad McElroy and wife Terry of Navasota; one daughter-in-law, Bonita McElroy of Carthage; one sister, Lillie Sharp and husband Jim; eleven grandchildren; nineteen great-grandchildren and eleven great-great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.

The family would like to give a special thanks to the staff at Panola Care and Rehab. and also to Heartsway Hospice staff especially Ms. Stacy Speaks.
