Funeral services for Mrs. Gladys Faye Flakes, 87, of the Woods Community will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, April 29, 2007 at Social Point Baptist Church with Reverend James Wall, Sr. officiating. Interment will follow in Social Point Cemetery under the direction of Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. Saturday evening at the funeral home. Mrs. Flakes passed away on Tuesday, April 24, 2007 in Carthage.

Gladys Faye Byrd Flakes was born on May 31, 1919 in New Summerfield, Texas to Zebedee and Gertrude Morris Chandler. At the age of six months, she was adopted by Jerry and Almina Byrd who raised her. Mrs. Flakes loved to spend time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She had lived all of her life in the Woods Community and was a member of the Social Point Baptist Church. Mrs. Flakes was preceded in death by three sons, Sammy Flakes, Jr., Delano C. Flakes, and James L. Flakes.

Mrs. Flakes is survived by two sons, Wallace Flakes and wife Doris of the Woods Community and Curtis Flakes and wife Delois of Lufkin; one daughter, Karma Ragster and husband Eugene of Kilgore; special friend, Ruthie Berry of the Woods Community; twelve grandchildren, Byron Roberts and wife Charlaria, Christopher Flakes, Rhonda Flakes, Latisha Roberts and friend Andre, Kevin Flakes, Melissa Flakes, Damon Roberts, Brandon Flakes and wife Courtney, Curtis Flakes, Jr., Corey Roberts, Whitney Flakes, and Cameron Flakes; eleven great-grandchildren; and numerous cousins, other relatives, and many friends.

Serving as pallbearers are Wallace Mitchell, Jerry Odom, Lenzy Mitchell, Don Wall, Larry Berry, Billy Sanders, Anthony Berry, and Emmett Goss. Serving as honorary pallbearers are Byron D. Roberts, Christopher Flakes, Kevin L. Flakes, Damon A. Roberts, Brandon T. Flakes, Curtis G. Flakes, Jr., Corey Roberts, and Cameron Flakes.
