Ginger Gale Ivey, a dedicated public servant and cherished family matriarch, passed away peacefully on April 29, 2026, in Carthage, Texas. Born on December 10, 1954, in Houston, Texas, Ginger was a proud graduate of Conroe High School, Class of 1973. Following her graduation, she pursued further education attending college, laying the foundation for a remarkable career in law enforcement.
Ginger devoted over 25 years of her life to the Harris County Sheriff's Department, culminating her service as a respected sergeant. Throughout her career, she demonstrated unwavering commitment, courage, and professionalism, earning the admiration of colleagues and community members alike.
Beyond her professional achievements, Ginger’s greatest joy was found in her family. Her favorite moments were those spent surrounded by her loved ones, especially her grandchildren, enriching the lives of those closest to her.
She is survived by her daughter, Tammy Ivey; beloved grandchildren, Brandon Schmaltz and Emily Saenz and husband Aidan; and treasured great-grandchildren, Adelaide Saenz, Sullivan Saenz, with another great-grandchild on the way. She also leaves behind numerous cousins, including Debra Rabon, who will remember her fondly.
Ginger was preceded in death by her parents, James William and Joanna Jane Wilber Lindemood; her brothers, Charlie and Jim Lindemood; and her daughter, Brandy Nichols. The memory of these dear family members remains a vital part of the legacy she cherished and honored.
Ginger Gale Ivey’s life was one of service, love, and dedication. Her contributions to public safety and her family’s happiness will endure in the hearts of all who knew her. She will be deeply missed and fondly remembered.
Cremation arrangements have been entrusted to Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home.
