Gertrude Marie Sappington Schieffer, 95 years young of Cedar Park, Texas, passed away on Tuesday, August 9, 2016. She was born August 21, 1920 in Austin, TX, and lived there most of her life. She was preceded in death by her husband, Laurence Schieffer, in 1988. Together they raised three sons and one daughter. Three of her children still live in the Austin and San Antonio area. Gertrude was a faithful member of the Hillcrest Baptist Church.

Survivors include son, Larry Schieffer and his wife Carole of Cedar Park; son, John Schieffer and his wife Sandra of San Antonio; daughter, Susan Schieffer Crenshaw and her husband Michael of Leander; and son, Ray Schieffer and his wife Susan of Carthage. Also surviving Mrs. Schieffer are Ray and Susan's children and grandchildren, Robin Bales and husband Larry of Osborne, KS and their children, Reagan, Graham, Payton and Pierce; and Ray and Susan's son, R. Scott Schieffer, of Dallas.

Visitation for Mrs. Schieffer will be Saturday, August 13, 2016 from 10 - 11 a.m. at Cook-Walden Chapel Of The Hills Funeral Home in Austin, with a service to follow.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Central Baptist Church, 220 W. Sabine, Carthage, TX 75633.
