Graveside services for Mrs. Gertrude Barber Beauchamp Muckelroy will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 6, 2011, at Youngblood Cemetery near Beckville. Mrs. Muckelroy left this life to be in the presence of the Lord Friday, July 1, 2011. Local arrangements are under the direction of Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home.
Gertie was born in the piney woods of East Texas in Beckville in 1918. A member of Daughters of the Republic of Texas since 1965, she always cherished her Texas heritage, and rightly so. The Beauchamp family has called East Texas home since John Beauchamp first settled his family there in the 1830s. She spent most of her adult life in Conroe before moving to Fort Worth. If Texas was Gertie's pride, her family was her passion. A widow of her beloved husband, Erma Allen "Muck" Muckelroy, since 1986, Gertie's life in the last 25 years revolved around her dearly loved family. She inspired several all-family vacations, creating memories for everyone that will last a lifetime. Most of all, as an ever faithful servant, Gertie was a prayer warrior for our family, offering thousands upon thousands of prayers to God to care for, guide and protect us. She has been called by many names: Gertrude, Gertie, mother and mama, grandmother and, as her great-grandchildren affectionately call her, "GG." But to all of us, she is simply this: loved. Gertie was preceded in death by her parents, Daniel and Naomi Beauchamp, and her dearly loved husband, Muck.
Gertie is survived by her daughter, Allie Sue Muckelroy Cox and husband Kenneth; three grandchildren, Allison Cox Frank, Amy Cox Kirkland, and Angie Cox McCoy and husband Mike; and ten great-grandchildren.
