Funeral services for Gerardo DeJesus "Chuy" Munoz, Jr., age 21, of Waskom, TX, will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 2, 2011, at the First Baptist Church in Waskom with Pastor Reginaldo DeLeon and Minister Robert Blount officiating under the direction of Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Restland Cemetery in Waskom. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. on Tuesday at the First Baptist Church in Waskom. Chuy passed away on Saturday morning, Oct. 29, 2011, in Harrison County.

Gerardo DeJesus "Chuy" Munoz, Jr. was born on Feb. 14, 1990, in Gomez Palacio, Durango, Mexico to Gerardo DeJesus Munoz, Sr. and Rosa DeLeon Munoz. He graduated from Waskom High School with the class of 2008 and attended LSUS and BPCC. Chuy enjoyed football, riding four wheelers, and hunting. He moved to Waskom in 1994, from Mexico and was a member of Ebenezer Baptist Church in Shreveport.

Mr. Munoz is survived by his parents, Gerardo DeJesus Munoz, Sr. and Rosa DeLeon Munoz of Waskom; two sisters, Rocio Rodriguez and husband Pedro of Waskom and Rosa Rivas and husband David of Bossier City; and one brother, Daniel Munoz of Waskom.

Serving as pallbearers are Travis Bruce, Jeremy Bumpers, Tony DeLeon, Luis DeLeon, Jose Luis DeLeon, Joby Fullen, Justin Loyd, and Jaime Martinez.
