Gerald Lyn Booty, age 63, of Carthage, Texas, passed away on Wednesday morning, November 12, 2025, in Carthage. He was born in Carthage on June 7, 1962, to Buford Sonny Booty, Jr. and Alyce Faye Henderson Booty. A proud member of the Carthage High School Class of 1980, Gerald was a talented athlete who played football for the Carthage Bulldogs. His love for the game continued throughout his life as he remained an enthusiastic supporter of both the Carthage Bulldogs and the Dallas Cowboys. Gerald was a pipeliner for Smith Equipment. He was a member of Pleasant Valley Baptist Church. Gerald was preceded in death by his father, Buford Sonny Booty, Jr.; sisters, Renita Briggs and Sandra Robinson; granddaughter, Kaylei Booty; and nieces, Kristanae and Kamiyah Wright.

Left to cherish his memory are his mother, Alyce Booty; son, Jarrod Booty; grandson, Kayson Booty; sister, Benita Wright (Davy); nieces and nephews, Christie Jackson (Johnny), Kris Briggs (Katrina), Davion Wright, Shanidra Hooker (Gabe), Rynon Robinson, and Kivea Smith (John). Numerous other relatives and friends also survive.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, November 15, 2025, at Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Davy Wright officiating. Interment will follow in Odd Fellows Cemetery. A viewing for family and friends will be held from 5-7 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home.
