Obituary

Funeral services for Mr. George Glasper, Jr., age 62, of Carthage, TX, will be held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 23, 2011, at Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home Chapel with Elder Robert George Lewis officiating. A military graveside service will follow in Oddfellows Cemetery in Carthage. The body will lie in state after 10 a.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home and the family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday evening at the funeral home. Mr. Glasper passed away on Wednesday morning, Feb. 16, 2011, in Tyler, TX.

George Glasper, Jr. was born on Dec. 1, 1948, in Panola County, TX to George Glasper, Sr. and Bernice Augusta McLemore Glasper. He graduated from Turner High School in Carthage with the class of 1967. Mr. Glasper served his country in the U.S. Army during Vietnam. He loved cooking and has worked at Bill's Meat Market for many years. Mr. Glasper was preceded in death by his parents; one infant brother; and one sister, Katherine Glasper.

Mr. Glasper is survived by one son, Sandford Jimmerson of Longview; one daughter, Tamela Marie Glasper of Houston; three brothers, Johnny Glasper and wife Mary of Carthage, Richard Glasper and wife LaWanda of Longview, and Robert Glasper and wife Linda of Longview; two sisters, Mary Boyce of Carthage and Linda Roberson and husband Bobby of Carthage; and two grandchildren, Darius and Denise.

Serving as pallbearers are Eddie Beck, Larry Williams, Kenneth W. Jones, Larry Winn, Calvin Crews, Louis Burrough, Willie Matlock, Raymond Franklin, and Raymond.

Serving as honorary pallbearers are Johnny Glasper, Richard Glasper, Robert Glasper, Bobby Roberson, Christopher E. Luckey, Cedric Roberson, Bryan Roberson, Bobby Roberson, Jr., Christopher C. Glasper, Christopher G. Glasper, Kevin Glasper, Derek Glasper, Jesse Luckey, and the COC 2nd Airborne 325th Infantry Vietnam Veterans.
