A funeral service for Mr. George Clakley, 81, of the Antioch Community in Panola County, TX, will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 11, 2014, at Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Benny Anglin and Bro. David Fallin officiating. Interment will follow in Antioch Cemetery. The family will receive friends for a visitation from 5-7 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home. Mr. Clakley passed away on Thursday afternoon, Jan. 9, 2014, in Shreveport.
George Clakley was born on Oct. 22, 1932, in Frankston, TX, to Solomon Levi and Alice Powell Clakley. He married Bonnie Jean Harvey on June 17, 1955, in the Antioch Community. He worked as a welder and was a farmer and rancher. Mr. Clakley moved to Antioch from Frankston in 1950.
Mr. Clakley is survived by his wife of 58 years, Bonnie Clakley of Antioch; one son, Dempsey "Lee" Clakley and wife Ann of River Hill; two brothers, Ernest Clakley and wife Shirley and Levi Clakley and wife June all of Tyler; three grandchildren, Bradley Lee Clakley of Antioch, Justin Clakley of Deadwood, and Jessica Clakley of Carthage; and one great-grandchild, Kyle Clakley.
Serving as pallbearers are Jeff Crooks, Bill Peace, Joey Brinkman, Sam Miller, Bubba Kiper, George Fletcher, and Jimmy Gibbs.
