A funeral service for Mr. Gene Dyke, age 81, of Midland, TX formerly of Carthage, TX, will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 8, 2012, at Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Noel Coker and Bro. Dennis Landtroop officiating. Interment will follow in Odd Fellows Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home. Mr. Dyke passed away on Tuesday afternoon, Dec. 4, 2012, in Midland.
Donald Eugene Dyke was born on Feb. 7, 1931, in Tahoka, TX to Marvin and Audrey Mae Curry Dyke. Mr. Dyke married Irene Moeller on March 22, 1952, at the Four Square Baptist Church in Brownfield, TX and she preceded him in death on Dec. 10, 2005, after 53 years of marriage. Mr. Dyke served his country in the U.S. Army during Korea and was honorably discharged. He worked as a crane operator for Blackie Trumble Construction in Lubbock and later as a superintendent and general manager of Good Pastures Grain Elevators in Brownfield for over 25 years. After moving from Brownfield to Carthage in 2000, Mr. Dyke became a member of the Carthage United Pentecostal Church. He moved back home to Midland in 2012. He was also preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, James and Monroe Dyke; one sister, Jessie Sisson; and two grandchildren.
Mr. Dyke is survived by four sons, Harlon Dyke and wife Louise of Carthage, Dale Dyke and wife Cathy of Midland, Danny Dyke of Carthage, and Billy Dyke and wife June of Carthage; four daughters, Gail Walker and husband Mike of Tahoka, Gwen Dyke of Carthage, Deborah Richmond and husband George of Brownfield, and Barbara Dyke of Carthage; twenty grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
Serving as pallbearers are Nathan Brown, Danny Dyke, Eugene Dyke, George Richmond, Matthew Dyke, Donnie Dyke, Dusty Madison, and Terry Gwin.
Serving as an honorary pallbearer is Randall Woodard, USMC.
