A funeral service for Mrs. Garl Dee Harris Allums, age 100, of Carthage, TX, will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 4, 2012, at Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. James Littleton officiating. Interment will follow in Rehobeth Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 4:00-5:30 p.m. on Saturday at the funeral home. Mrs. Allums passed away on Friday morning, Nov. 2, 2012, in Carthage.
Garl Dee Harris Allums was born on Sept. 11, 1912, in Beckville, TX to Jesse Will and Maude Pearl Shivers Harris. She graduated from Beckville High School. Mrs. Allums married Aaron P. Allums on March 22, 1932, and he preceded her in death on Jan. 23, 2000. She worked for many years at Herman Hospital in Houston. Mrs. Allums moved back to Carthage in 1975, from St. Louis, MO. She was a member of Rehobeth U.M.C. Mrs. Allums was also preceded in death by her parents; one grandson, James Robert Neal Barton, Jr.; and two sisters, Juanita Harris Hunt and Jessie Helen Harris
Ramsey Jackson.
Mrs. Allums is survived by one son, Aaron Larry Allums and wife Mary of Houston; one daughter, Gloria Dee Barton and husband Robert of Carthage; one brother, Billy Hugh Harris and wife Willie Mae of Beckville; five grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; and seven great-great grandchildren. Numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and many friends also survive Mrs. Allums.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff and nurses of Briarcliff Healthcare Center, Heart's Way Hospice, and ETMC-Carthage, for the loving care shown to Mrs. Allums.
Serving as pallbearers are Michael Allums, Tom Kuczynski, Brian Kuczynski, Jimmy Barton, Jesse Barton, and Damon Lahar.
